Ok, so you're ready to try a meetURplanet.com type of adventure, great! You and I both know this is the future of travel.
Whether you're travelling or hosting we have tips to save you time and money. This advice is based from our own personal experiences at this style of travel and meetings.

Tips for the local host.
Thanks for being a host, we understand your time is valuable and really appreciate your efforts at helping your fellow travellers. We guarantee you'll enjoy the meeting as much as they will!

Please reply to everyone who may contact you as a matter of courtesy. Remember they made the effort to contact you. If you can't help or host a traveller for whatever reason that is fine, but at least an acknowledgment is nice.
Always remember that you are in total control as to whether you want to host anyone who contacts you. Never feel pressured into meeting if it's not suitable to you.
Be clear as to what type of activities and places your visitor would like to see. Make your suggestions and together plan your adventure.
A little concerned about meeting strangers off the net? Sure we can understand that. Whenever you meet people you don't know, whether from the net or in real life you should take the normal precautions.
1) As a host you should also establish the identity of the traveller you will meet before they leave for their holiday.
- Send them a post card to either their home or work address. Make sure they receive it and allow about two weeks for them to get it.
- Call them on the phone before meeting, either before they leave home or when they first arrive at your city/town. You can call them at their hotel.
- Know whom you are looking for before meeting them, so get them to send some pictures if they don't have one on their profile.
- When you first meet suggest exchanging business cards and/or showing some form of personal identification (drivers license, credit card etc) to each other.
2) Tell someone where you are going and whom you are going to meet.
3) Meet your traveller for the first time in a public place.
By now you will have a good feel as to what they are like and your judgement will guide you.
Please Note:
It is your responsibility to satisfy yourself as to the person is whom they claim.
Remember these tips are only of a general nature based on our own personal experiences. MeetURplanet.com will not be held liable in any circumstance for any advice.

Finally be tolerant, open and remember there might be cultural and language differences for the traveller to contend with.

Most important of all remember to have fun and enjoy yourselves. It's a big planet out there, so get going and meet some of it!
Safe, travel adventures!
