My
Chilean holiday - by Guy
Recently I travelled to Chile in South America. This trip
was the result of nearly one year of planning after contacting
with a member of the site - Cristian from Los Andes, Chile.
The picturesque Valley of Aconcagua outside Los Andes.
I found Chilean people to be very hospitable. I had met Cristian
at meeturplanet.com approx 9 months ago. We chatted during
all these months and had exchanged photos of our families,
flowers, cities I had visited etc etc. Before long we found
out that we liked the same music, loved digital photography,
nature and travel.
Soon we decided that we would meet in Chile in November 2002.
When I arrived, I called Cristian and he came to meet me with
his family. We bonded right away and decided that we would
go for a week to visit such places as La Serena - the "Valle
de Elqui" and Coquimbo just to name a few. We travelled
to these places in Cristian's car and he also brought along
two friends. We had the greatest time I can remember ever
having on a vacation!!

that takes you all the way to the top where you have a fantastic
view of the port and the entire city. You can walk the length
of both arms, where windows are located on each side.
Cristian took me to many places and I will never forget how
hospitable his family was. I stayed with them for another
week prior to returning to Vancouver, Canada. They live in
Los Andes close to "Portillo" the famous ski resort
where Cristian and his sister Carolina took me for a visit.
The road to Portillo is absolutely awesome and Portillo was
covered with snow but we did not ski. We took some pictures
there and headed back home for a good meal. His mother is
a great cook. His sister is 21 years old and she studies at
the University of Santiago. His two (2) brothers are younger
and both are equestrian champions in their age categories.
They are trained by their father who offered me some of the
best Chilean wine I ever tasted.
Beautiful architecture is evident with this church.
From this trip Carolina (Cristians sister) met my son who
was with me. He is 19 and they since have become good friends
and chat on MSN every week. They (Cristian and his sister)
are now planning to come to Vancouver, B.C, Canada in July
2003 and I hope to be able to return the fantastic hospitality
they extended to me and my family when I was in their country.
Thanks to meeturplanet.com, I have discovered some new and
fantastic friends and enjoyed one of my best trips ever!!
