Recently one of our members Iftikhar (member 129 from Pakistan) posted me some photos that he took recently. When I looked at the photos I didn't know what to say? Purely on his own accord and because he feels strongly about the concept of meetURplanet.com he had organised a "Walk for Peace" in his town. He wanted to expose small children to meetURplanet.com in an atmosphere of peace and let them know that the world doesn't have to be divided but can be as one. He held the walk at a time when tensions between India and Pakistan were high.

Iftikhar went and made a meetURplanet.com banner and he developed and posted me the photos knowing they may well disappear in the mail system, as stamps can nearly be as good as money sometimes! When I opened his mail and looked inside I must admit I was amazed and at the same time touched by his actions. It was certainly heartening to see a member feel so strongly about the site.
I always try to keep an open mind and never favour or disfavour someone because he wears different clothes to me, thinks differently to me, speaks a different language or has a different coloured skin. I judge people on how they treat me, their good and bad qualities and not on their religion or their race. MeetURplanet.com embraces diversity and we know it's what makes the world an amazing place! Today Iftikhar reaffirmed to me what's good about the rock I live on.

Enjoy the photos and comments from Iftikhar. It was only at my suggestion that the photos have made it onto the site. I thought they should be shared with everyone. Jeff

An interview with Iftikhar

Jeff (meetURplanet.com):
Iftikhar where did you take these photos exactly?

Iftikhar:
Jeff I took these photos at different places all around my village. I live in a village/town called Talwandi Musa Khan, which is located in Punjab Province-Pakistan, about 6 kilometers east from an industrial city 'Gujranwala'. It has good country side, where u can find most types of agriculture, trees, gardens and kind of a fresh atmosphere.

Jeff (meetURplanet.com):
Iftikhar what motivated you to make a banner and organise these photos?

Iftikhar:
Jeff I have two favourite sites in the cyber world, one is meeturplanet.com and the other is ICQ. As it is one of my favourite sites I try to do anything which may help it grow and develop. I took the photo's to raise awareness of the site locally and I thought the photos might provide energy to the meetURplanet.com team!
At the time there was especially tension between India and Pakistan and so I organised a Walk for Peace on behalf of meetURplanet.com. Our children are like little angels so I thought the walk and promoting meetURplanet.com at the same time would make a positive impact on them, and their thoughts about peace.

Jeff (meetURplanet.com):
Well Iftikhar I think what you did will have a positive impact on many people. Thanks so much for your efforts in taking meetURplanet.com to the world.
